weeknotesworkThe “somewhat contentious technical architecture decision that needs making” has been my main focus this week, but with curveballs headed in.
Firstly, I did a shitload of work on Friday on the PowerPoint deck to present to my other G6 colleagues. But I failed to notice that adding protective marking meant that it turned off autosave. So I lost all of Friday’s work. Then the estimates for one option came in and were not what I expected and I had to replan. So the DD and the CTO meetings are yet to come 😅
As I mentioned last time,
Given that I’m cosplaying a Grade 6 civil servant in the English civil service, that means I’m “politically restricted”, so I’m not allowed to engage in “any participation in national political activities”, so I’m actually gonna have to stfu about politics for a few weeks. That’s gonna be very weird. I doubt there’s a whole week where I’ve not talked about politics in the last 35 years and now I need to manage 6 of them in a row! 😅
(Wow, that blockquote formatting is a lot; I might have to look at that!) I was right, it is both weird and incredibly frustrating. Ach well, nowt I can do about it, so…
I’m looking forward to South Wales Gay Men’s Chorus’s annual concert “Lights! Camera! Slay!” tomorrow, some more Wikimedia LGBT+ bits and pieces to do and a bunch of chores over the weekend, and staying out of the way of Jen’s revision. But first, the CSLGBT+ May Social this evening.
Still reading Anthony Oliveira’s Dayspring, though also the Hugos Pack came through, so I’ve started Vajra Chandrasekera’s Lammy and Nebula finalist The Saint of Bright Doors last night. (And sooooo much short fiction to catch up on in the pack!)
